Discovery, Workshops, and Animal-Assisted Therapy: The Enchanted Farm of Bornottes

Explore the small family farm where a diversity of species and breeds coexist. Come share a moment of conviviality by discovering goats, sheep, llamas, cows, ponies, pigs, ornamental poultry, and many more.

At the farm, we offer:

- Various workshops such as junior farmers, goat milking and cheese making, treasure hunts, farm investigations, activities around wool, and land art.

- Free visits where you can meet the animals independently, enjoy the petting zoo, and discover our playful tents with discovery games.

- Guided tours lasting 1.5 hours.

- Farm birthday parties, including two workshops of your choice, with refreshments provided by the parents, for a half-day of celebration.

Additionally, we offer animal-assisted therapy and zoothérapie sessions for all audiences, led by a trained professional. Along with breeding Highland Cattle and direct product sales.

The Bormotte farm was created in 2007. It was founded with the aim of promoting sustainable agriculture and sharing the agricultural traditions of the region, including the production of Salers cheese and goat farming. Since its creation, the farm has welcomed visitors and offered various educational and recreational activities for young and old.

La Ferme de Bormotte offers a total immersion in the agricultural world of Cantal. On your way there, you will discover not only an authentic rural environment but also the ancestral farming methods that have been perpetuated for generations. The farm, on a human scale, allows you to understand closely the daily life of the breeders and the management of a family farm.

Far from large industrial farms, the Ferme de Bormotte cultivates simplicity and proximity to nature. You will be able to observe the stages of agricultural work over the seasons: from the care of animals to the harvest of local products. The farm also offers guided tours that will reveal all the secrets of working the fields, from raising Salers cows to producing cheese. You can ask all your questions to the passionate farmers who enthusiastically share their know-how and love of the trade. The Animals of the Bormotte Farm

At the Ferme de Bormotte, a beautiful variety of animals typical of traditional farming awaits you. You will discover the majestic Salers cows, known for their milk that is used to make the famous cheese of Salers. Goats, whose milk is also processed into cheese, are another attraction. The sheep, often present for their wool, add a bucolic touch to the atmosphere. Poultry (hens, ducks, etc.) complete this rural picture, while horses bring their noble presence. A great opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of the farm and observe these animals in their natural environment.

Activities for Children at the Ferme de Bormotte: A Playful and Educational Immersion!

La Ferme de Bormotte offers a range of activities specially designed for children, combining discovery, learning and fun in a unique natural setting. Activities available include:

Small farmers: Learn about farm life and discover the animals, their food and their environment.
Wool collage and felting: Let your creativity run wild by making works from local wool.
Treasure hunt (minimum 6 children): Go on an adventure in search of hidden treasures while solving fun puzzles.
Photo rally: Explore the farm and its surroundings through a game of photos, looking for the most beautiful shots.
Manual milking and goat cheese making (available in June, July and August): Discover the art of milking and making goat cheese, an authentic experience.
Land'art: Create ephemeral works with natural materials found around the farm, respecting the environment.

To get to the Ferme de Bormotte from the Presqu'île de Laussac, here is the route to follow:

From the Laussac Peninsula, take the D15 towards Saint-Flour.
In Saint-Flour, continue on the D926 towards Mourjou.
Follow the D926 to Salers (about 30 minutes drive).
Once in Salers, follow the signs for Ferme de Bormotte. The farm is located about 5 km from Salers.
